Movement, best described as a form of telekinesis, is perhaps the most commonly used and easiest to understand form of modding. It also has a lot of different derivatives and specialized forms, so it’s a good foundation for mastering other abilities related to motion.
With Movement, outsiders change the environment directly around them. It’s a quick and easy way of interacting with objects. Doing simple chores has never been easier.
When Movement is applied to the self it’s also a great way to get around. You may have noticed an outsider’s tendency to be hovering instead of standing, or to float a little bit when they could have walked.
Still with modding sometimes you have to stop and think. While the easiest way to talk about it is just to say that Owen can float, conceptually its a different thing. Owen can’t float.
|This is not a floating boy.|
|Is your mind blown yet?|
What Owen can do is modify the parameters of the physical world so that his body specifically is lifted off the ground. Like clicking and dragging an image on a computer, he can make the world put him somewhere else.
But there are other approaches to floating too. He could mod the world to repel his body from the ground, like a magnet.
Or he could mod all the forces acting on him to be uniformly distributed, simulating weightlessness.
Still he might mod the wind to lift himself up, making a giant fan, or a condensed cushion of air.
Or maybe he just mods himself so that he can float.
With the ability to mod how Movement works in your immediate environment, the possibilities have just become endless.
